Botox, Dysport

By precisely relaxing certain facial muscles just under the skin, we can safely and effectively reduce the appearance of wrinkles, and the appearance of tiredness and age.

At Skin deep we use both BOTOX® and Dysport®.

What is Botox®and Dysport?
BOTOX® and Dysport® are Botulinum toxin type A, which is a natural, purified protein that relaxes wrinkle-causing muscles. This results in smooth, rejuvenated skin and a more youthful appearance. A few injections will keep muscles that cause lines relaxed from four to six months.

How does it work?
About four to seven days after being injected, the lines and wrinkles that are normally caused by certain facial expressions start to disappear as movement below them decreases, which leaves overlying skin smooth and unwrinkled. Because treatment with BOTOX® and  Dysport® injections is targeted at specific, individual muscles, the ability to form most facial expressions should not be affected.

What does it cost?
Botox® and Dysport® are charged per unit. As an example, frown lines between the eyes would normally cost around $400. At your initial consultation an individual assessment will enable your doctor or nurse to give you a precise cost.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q:

What can and can't I do after a Botox® treatment?

A:

You can carry on life as normal, and any mild redness from the fine injections can be easily covered with makeup. You should leave the treated area alone for 48 hours to let it settle – it is best not to have a facial or similar treatment for 24 hrs after treatment.

Q:

Who is suitable for Botox® treatments?

A:

Almost everyone, apart from those who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Q:

Are there any long term problems?

A:

No – the product used is in very small concentrations. It is completely natural and is completely broken down by the body over time.

Q:

Are Botox® injections painful?

A:

Most people only experience a mild temporary discomfort – a slight sting – during the injections.

Q:

How does Botox® work?

A:

The Botulinum toxin blocks the nerve transmission to the muscles under the skin. Facial lines formed by the dynamic action of underlying muscles will then diminish or disappear.

Q:

When will I notice a difference?

A:

It starts to work in about 4-5 days. The greatest effect is seen after about 2 weeks.

Q:

How long will a Botox® treatment last?

A:

3-4 months depending on each individual's response. Repeat treatments have been shown to last longer.
